Swansea striker Michu wants to be granted a free transfer to allow him to return to Spain.
Michu, 29, who has a year left on his £40,000-a-week contract, spent last season at Napoli but is trying to find a Spanish club.
Granada and Rayo Vallecano are both keen but neither can afford a transfer fee and the Spaniard's wages.
Swansea want a transfer fee for Michu, who was linked with big money moves just two years ago but they are now struggling to get him off the books.
He scored 18 goals for Swansea in 2012-13 after a prolific season for Rayo, but in 2013-14 played less than half as much due to injury and scored only twice
